Report:
We left on Friday afternoon to setup for drift for swordfish 70 miles offshore. On our way out, we caught a couple of dolphin (1 peanut - 1 gaffer) and then started our drift.
We had one swordfish bite all night, working from 1700' deep to 1300' deep. We managed to release a the small swordfish at about 11:00 PM.
At around 5:00 AM, we pulled our lines in and headed East to the other side of the Gulf Stream. We got there (100 miles offshore) just in time and found some birds. We buddied up with a friend of ours and we tag-teamed the schools.
We caught 4 yellowfin (released 2 of them) but they were not that big - 35# and the other around 12#. We missed 5 others. Our friends got 3 Yellowfin.
We then went back home, a long 100 mile trip. :) We burned a total of 270 out of 400 gallons of available fuel.
BTW - When 90 miles offshore, our starboard engine stopped suddenly while we were trolling. It appears to have been a clogged fuel filter, which was promptly replaced while we were offshore.
